Asociaciones y Programas

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research. We advance a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and support all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children. The association comprises nearly 60,000 individual members of the early childhood community and 52 Affiliates, all committed to delivering on the promise of high-quality early learning. Together, we work to achieve a collective vision: that all young children thrive and learn in a society dedicated to ensuring they reach their full potential.

The National Child Care Association (NCCA) has been a trusted, nonpartisan voice for licensed providers of quality early childhood care and education programs since 1987. It was formed to be an influential voice at state and national legislative tables. The NCCA began as a federation of state associations that appointed state leaders to serve as the Board of Directors at the national level. In recent years, membership has been extended to individuals and centers to raise a larger and more unified voice for the licensed early childhood education community.

Senior Planet is an award-winning program sponsored by the nonprofit organization, OATS from AARP, offering free training and programs for older adults.
At OATS and Senior Planet, our mission is to harness technology to change the way we age. It drives our strategy and is the basis for all our programs, so it’s essential to understand what we mean by changing the way we age, and how we translate this into operational terms. But first, let’s explore what we believe is not going right.
There are a lot of things wrong with how we deal with aging in America today. We underinvest in geriatricians and overinvest in nursing homes. We drive people out of the workforce when they still have the desire and capability to contribute. We have created an age-segregated society where older and younger people rarely socialize, collaborate, or create together. We are facing unprecedented growth in the proportion of our population that is old, yet we have failed to update or modernize our public policies or social practices to prepare for these changes or to care for the people who will, in increasing numbers, need our help.

National Head Start Association
When Head Start was first launched in 1965, the idea of providing comprehensive health, nutrition, and education services to children in poverty was revolutionary, if not radical. The Head Start Model, developed over the decades, has been built on evidence-based practices and is constantly adapting—using the best available science and teaching techniques to meet the needs of local communities.

The Whole Child
Head Start programs offer an ideal laboratory for the study of effective child development and learning. The Department of Health and Human Services funds extensive research every year that reinvigorates practices, ensuring that programs meet children's needs by creating a deep understanding of how they learn and what supports healthy development. Children enter Head Start with serious socioeconomic disadvantages that can hold them back for life.

The Whole Family
Head Start supports families facing difficult circumstances and seeks to mitigate obstacles to learning in the early years. Flash forward 50 years, President Barack Obama in his 2014 State of the Union address called for more focused and dedicated work to ensure vulnerable children and families have access to high quality care and education in their earliest years. His FY2016 budget included a commitment to expand and strengthen childcare and early education programs, specifically increasing the duration of Head Start to a full school day and year. Clearly, providing early learning opportunities for at-risk children has become not only a focal point for lawmakers, but a shared national commitment.
